Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev held a meeting of Kazakhstan Security Council on October 27, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the President's press-service. Draft National Security Strategy for 2012-2016 developed by the Government was discussed at the meeting.
Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized the importance of measures on maintaining peace and acconcord, sustainable development of Kazakhstan's society, further strengthening of the economy and the statehood, as well as neutralization of threats and challenges of Kazakhstan's security.
"During the discussion the President made several significant remarks and suggestions related to mechanisms of countering the existing and foreseen threats and challenges,” the President's press-service stated.
Implementation of the Law On external intelligence was also discussed at the meeting. The participants stressed the importance of activities of intelligence authorities for ensuring Kazakhstan's national security, and timely discovery and prevention of external terrorist and extremist threats, the President's official website reported.
