By 2 p.m. Astana time voter turnout in Kazakhstan made 55.5 percent, Tengrinews.kz reports referring to the Central Election Commission. 5.162.922 people had voted in the Majilis (lower chamber of the Parliament) and Maslikhat (local representative authorities) elections by that time. “As of 2 p.m. on January 15, 2012 5.162.922 received their ballots. This is 55.5 percent of all the voters in Kazakhstan,” member of the Central Election Commission Marat Sarsembayev announced at 3 p.m. Here is a layout of voter turnout by area: 21.3 percent in Astana, 14.1 percent in Almaty, 69.2 percent in Akmola oblast, 47.1 percent in Aktobe oblast, 74.1 percent in Almaty oblast, 67.5 percent in Atyrau oblast, 65.6 percent in East Kazakhstan oblast, 58.1 percent in Zhambyl oblast, 55.8 percent in West Kazakhstan oblast, 51.2 percent in Karaganda oblast, 72.9 percent in Kostanay oblast, 71.8 percent in Kyzylorda oblast, 54.7 percent in Mangistau oblast, 60.6 percent in Pavlodar oblast, 59.7 percent in North Kazakhstan oblast, 56.8 percent in South Kazakhstan oblast. “No complaints from voters, observers, party representatives or other people involved in the election proves have been registered so far,” the member of the Election Commission said.
