Managing Director of NC Production Operations Company (NCPOC) that develops Kashagan field has announced his resignation, MGorod.kz reports. Managing Director of NCPOC Hans Bakker made the announcement at the meeting with Atyrau oblast Akim (Governor) Baktykozha Izmukhambetov. "I will leave the position of managing director on June 1. These were interesting and exciting 5 years. I hadn't worked anywhere as for long as I have worked in Atyrau oblast. It is especially sad to leave the project when it is at the cusp of production start. As for the future of the project, I would say that prospects are very good, despite of the fact that the project is very complicated. But it has its own history. We have faced several challenges. But I think that we will be able to leave these challenges behind in the nearest time. Production will start not only for the benefit of the consortium's shareholders but also for the benefit of Kazakhstan," Bakker said. His deputy Arjan van Dijk will become a new managing director of the company. NCPOC is one of four agent companies of the consortium of the North Caspian Sea Production Sharing Agreement (NCSPSA). Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that first commercial oil at the giant Kashagan oilfield was expected in early July 2013.
