Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry has commented the row around the article of Chinese writer insulting Kazakh women, Tengrinews.kz reports. In the article the writer told about his visit to a Kazakh family and, besides “unbelievable hospitality”, mentioned an easy “approach” to Kazakh women. “This is merely a point of view of one person. If tomorrow somebody talks bad of America or any other country, it doesn’t mean that they will respond with a manifestation,” head of Foreign Ministry’s press-service Ilyas Omarov said. “I think that one has to read the article and make some conclusions first and only then decide whether to take part in the demonstration near the Chinese embassy (in Kazakhstan) or not. Having read the article, I wouldn’t have taken part in such actions, as there is really no reason for that,” he contained about the intention of a group of Kazakhstan activists to organized a protest near the Chinese embassy. According to head of the Ministry’s press-service, the piece at the Chinese website is just an opinion of a person who served in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. “He was invited there and he spoke very warmly about Kazakh family and believed that Kazakhs brought unity to multi-national China. Everyone went to bed one the floor under one roof as there were no beds or extra rooms there. The only thing was that a young woman was sleeping next to him, according to his letter. Many Chinese colleagues made him delete the article as it caused lots of negative feedback. There is no need to respond to that. We knew that the article would be published and our colleagues in Chinese embassy knew what could happen and sent us the translation beforehand,” Omarov said. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that Kazakhstan activists got outraged with the article published by writer Hun Ba on Shinlan website. The author describes how he has served in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, where he frequently interacted with Kazakhs. The activists state that the writer insulted the traditions of Kazakh people. Representatives of Kazakh ethnic community in China have already submitted a plea to court. They believe that Hun Ba has to be brought to responsibility for incitement of international hatred. Astana’s activists decided to support their fellow countrymen and wrote a claim to Chinese embassy. The embassy, however, refused to accept the petition.
