Kazakhstan and Turkey signed the New Synergy economic program, Tengrinews.kz reports from the meeting of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Turkish Prime-Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The negotiations between the officials resulted in two documents. The first document is a joint economic program called New Synergy providing a new level of cooperation between the two countries in trade and investments. The document was signed by the governments’ vice-ministers. The second document was signed by the presidents. It is a joint statement on establishment of the Strategic Cooperation Council between Kazakhstan and Turkey. The document declares creation of the interstate mechanism at the top level of political management of both countries. The meeting of Nazarbayev and Erdoğan also covered perspective of connecting Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railroad with Turkish railroad system and cooperation in opening a joint industrial zone in Kazakhstan with participation of Turkish capital. According to the President’s press-service, Kazakhstan-Turkish industrial zone will be located in South-Kazakhstan oblast at the area of 40 hectares next to the airport 3 km from Western Europe-Western China road. 150 representatives of major Turkish companies are expected to visit the location of the future industrial zone in the end of May. An interesting detail that could not be omitted by the journalists of the presidential pool and those covering the visits of high-ranking guests to Kazakhstan is that the President’s eldest daughter, Dariga Nazarbayeva, took part in the ceremony of meeting the head of the foreign country for the first time. Normally Nursultan Nazarbayev personally crosses the ceremonies hall to meet high-ranking guests at the main entrance of his residence. This time an exception was made and the President was accompanied by his daughter. The volume of direct Kazakhstan investments to Turkey has made over $600 million since 2004. The volume of Turkish investments reached almost $1.8 billion. There are currently 3,422 companies with Turkish capital registered in Kazakhstan. The number of Kazakhstan companies in Turkey reached 150. By Renat Tashkinbayev
