Tengrinews.kz – Presidents Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan and Emmanuel Macron of France signed a Joint Declaration aimed at bolstering their strategic partnership, reports Tengrinews.kz, referencing Akorda.
Following the declaration, the leaders oversaw the signing of several key agreements:
- An agreement on readmission between the governments of Kazakhstan and France.
- A strategic partnership roadmap on critical resources and materials.
- A strategic cooperation agreement between the Sovereign Wealth Fund "Samruk-Kazyna" and Société Generale S.A.
- A strategic cooperation agreement on six-axle electric locomotives between Kazakhstan Railways (Kazakhstan Temir Zholy) and Alstom Transport SA.
- A cooperation protocol in archaeology between the A.Kh. Margulan Institute of Archaeology and the French National Institute of Preventive Archaeological Research (INRAP).
During Tokayev's state visit to Paris, delegations from both nations signed a total of 36 agreements, including one intergovernmental, 21 interagency, and 14 commercial agreements valued at $2.2 billion.
The expanded talks with Macron, Tokayev remarked, mark a new chapter in Kazakhstan-France relations.
“This visit represents a significant milestone in our strategic partnership with France. I am confident that today’s discussions and our Joint Declaration will elevate our relationship to a strengthened strategic partnership,” he said.
On his arrival in Paris, President Tokayev received an official welcome, including an honor guard inspection featuring troops from the Republican Guard and France's aerospace, land, and naval forces. After the inspection, the honor guard performed a ceremonial march past the two leaders, followed by the introduction of the official delegations and distinguished guests.
The previous day, Kazakhstan’s President was welcomed at the Paris airport by France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.
