Kazakhstan and Syria agreed on a plan of evacuation of Kazakhstan citizens in case of unforeseen events, Express-K writes citing official representative of Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry Altai Abibullayev. According to Abibullayev, there are 132 Kazakhstan citizens living in Syria and Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry keeps a close contact with them. “There were no Kazakhstan citizens among victims of the clashes,” he noted. Anti-government protests in Syria have been lasting for almost a year. The protesters call for reforms and resignation of the president Bashar al-Assad. According to the UN, the riots claimed at least 5.4 thousand people. Damascus states that the riots are instigated by armed groups supported from abroad that have already killed over 2 thousand Syrian militarymen.
