Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan’s Minister of Health, Akmaral Alnazarova, has announced plans to equip medical workers with body cameras and hospitals with video recorders to enhance their safety. She presented the initiative at a government meeting.

“In cooperation with Kazakhtelecom and local administrations, 2,100 ambulance teams will be provided with body cameras, and 644 hospital admissions departments will be equipped with video recorders,” Alnazarova said.

She also noted that by 2026, regional administrations, together with Otbasy Bank, will provide housing for doctors in shortage specialties, particularly in regions facing the most acute staff deficits.

Alnazarova stressed that these measures will help ensure timely and effective implementation of the President’s instructions while strengthening public trust in the healthcare system.

The initiative comes after a rise in violent incidents against medical staff. In Turkestan region, a paramedic was severely injured after being attacked by a patient’s husband out of jealousy. In Karaganda, doctors were also victims of brutal assaults. These cases have prompted the government to tighten safety measures for healthcare workers.

In July, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ordered tougher penalties for attacks on medical personnel.
