Tengrinews.kz – Speaker of the Mazhilis Yerlan Koshanov has signed a decree to convene a joint session of the two chambers of Parliament, the press service of Akorda reported.
The session will take place on September 2 at 11:00 in Astana, marking the opening of the fourth session of the eighth convocation of Parliament.
Earlier it was announced that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will deliver his annual Address to the Nation on September 8 at a joint session of the Mazhilis and the Senate. Traditionally, the President presents the Address at the opening of the political season. This year, however, the schedule was shifted due to Tokayev’s upcoming visit to China at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.
The start of the political season in early September marks the return of lawmakers to the drafting and reviewing of bills, which later become law. Meanwhile, the government continues its work without recess. Among the pressing issues this fall are education, the heating and epidemiological seasons, as well as other socially significant topics.
