The U.S. presidential candidate and owner of the social network X conversed on the platform for over two hours in a friendly atmosphere. According to Musk, the broadcast started 40 minutes later than planned due to a massive DDoS attack.
Assassination attempt on Trump
The U.S. presidential candidate revealed that he immediately realized the bullet had hit his ear. He was surprised by the amount of blood. According to Trump, he was saved by turning his head just a fraction of a second before the shot.
"Illegal immigration saved my life. It was a miracle. If I hadn’t turned my head, I would not be talking to you right now, as much as I like you," Trump said.
The interlocutor explained to Musk that he was looking at a chart on illegal immigration at the moment of the shooting, calling it "divine providence" and reinforcing his faith in God. Trump praised the work of the Secret Service but criticized the overall coordination of law enforcement, noting that one of the police officers had warned about a suspicious man in advance.
About Biden and Harris
Musk's interviewee expressed a poor opinion of his election opponents. He claimed that the president's IQ was low and now "is completely absent," adding that the president "can barely move.”
Trump also noted that there had been a "coup" within the Democratic Party, claiming that "the Democrats took the president out behind the barn and shot him." He described Kamala Harris, his new opponent, as even incompetent than Biden.
"We cannot have her, she's incompetent — she's as bad as Biden," Trump said.
However Trump praised Harris for her appearance, noting that she looks "beautiful" on the cover of Time magazine and comparing her to Melania Trump. Overall, he described her as a radical Democrat, or “radical left lunatic”.
Relations with Russia and China
Trump stated that he knew Russian President Putin well and had good relations with Chinese President Xi Jinping and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. He added that he would not have allowed a crisis in relations with these countries.
"They're smart and they're vicious," Trump noted.
Trump said he wants to improve relations with Putin. He noted that the alliance between Russia and China should be prevented and emphasized that the U.S. needs a president who can counter them. He also warned that China could soon catch up with or surpass the U.S. in its nuclear arsenal.
Commenting on the war in Ukraine, Trump said that the Ukrainian army is lacking personnel and is calling up men of various ages. He noted that Russia has significant combat experience, having defeated Germany and Napoleon.
Domestic issues in the U.S.
Musk and Trump again discussed immigration. Trump stated that the U.S. is receiving "dangerous people and killers from countries like Congo" and promised to crack down hard on immigration, noting that people are coming to the country not only from Mexico but from all over the world.
Trump also expressed negative views on the current administration's economic policies.
"I think we have the worst inflation we’ve had in 100 years," the former president stated.
Trump proposed cutting budget expenditures and reducing many programs. He suggested creating a government efficiency commission to review spending and, for example, closing the U.S. Department of Education and transferring its functions to the states.
