Heads of Gazprom and Kazakhstan Oil and Gas Ministry discuss joint projects in energy

Gazprom and Kazakhstan discussed prospects of bilateral cooperation, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Gazprom. The meeting of the chairman of Gazprom Aleksey Miller and Kazakhstan Oil and Gas Minister Sauat Mynbayev was held in the company’s headquarters. The parties discussed prospects of bilateral cooperation in energy, including implementation of joint projects in hydrocarbons exploration, production, processing and marketing. Kazakhstan’s explored natural gas reserves make around 3.3 trillion cubic meters, while the forecast natural gas resources, including those at the Caspian shelf, are estimated at around 8 trillion cubic meters. The main directions of bilateral cooperation between Gazprom and Kazakhstan’s business entities include processing of gas from Karachaganak gas condensate field at Orenburg Gas Processing Plant, rendering services to Gazprom companies consisting in transit of Kazakhstan gas via the territory of Russia to consumers in the post soviet countries, supplies of Russian natural gas to consumers in Kostanay oblast of Kazakhstan and organization of transit of Central Asian gas across the territory of Kazakhstan. Around 930 million cubic meters of Russian natural gas was supplied to Kazakhstan consumers in 2012.
