Businessmen and famous personalities will advertise Kazakhstan abroad, Tengrinews reports citing Vice Minister for Investment and Development Yerlan Sagadiyev.
"We plan on further expanding the network of foreign representative offices [of the National Agency for Export and Investment KAZNEX INVEST] to attract investments. Starting next year, this work will be done with the assistance of foreign experts. Second - we are creating an institute of honorary investment advisors, which is around 30-40 people from among influential businessmen and personalities,” Sagadiyev said at a briefing at Central Communication Services headquarters in Astana on October 3.
The speaker noted that many of these individuals are foreigners, who would advertise Kazakhstan abroad.
“This is an unpaid, honorary position. International experience in this area is huge, we have studied it. Overall, it is an interesting area for future work," he explained.
When answering questions, Sagadiyev said that maintaining one such representative office abroad would cost about 25 thousand euros per month.
"This includes rent, salaries of two people, their travelling and administrative costs. We are planning to open a representative office in Europe, one in the United States, and another in England. We have not yet made the decision as to the fourth office: either in South Korea, China, Singapore, or Japan," Sagadiyev said.
