Almaty administration presents 95 new cars to police

Almaty Akim (Mayor) Akhmetzhan Yessimov has passed new patrol vehicles to the city's policemen, Tengrinews.kz reports. Interior Department police officers received 95 new Chance cars assembled in Kazakhstan. Most of them will be used by patrol police and some of them will be transferred to the road police. The official ceremony was attended by the city administration and Interior Department's ranking officials, as well as by 350 Department’s officers. “We have gathered today to implement the goals set by the President, namely to improve equipment of the Department. 95 cars have been bought at the expense of the city budget. They are equipped with all the necessary devices,” the Akim said. The city authorities will keep supporting the department, he assured. Compared to last year, this year’s budget of the interior Department grew by 23 percent. Head of Almaty Interior Department Kairat Tynybekov promised that the police officers will do everything possible to keep the peace in the city. Inexpensive Kazakhstan-made Chance cars are also known at the local market as Daewoo Lanos. The minimum price of the car stands at $8,990. Almaty administration spent the total of $1.3 million on the new transport. The car fleet of Almaty Interior Department currently includes 1,080 cars.
