Democratic Party Ak Zhol has announced its position on the early presidential election in Kazakhstan, a Tengrinews correspondent reports.
At the XII Congress of the Party Ak Zhol, the delegates voted and decided to support support the nomination of Nursultan Nazarbayev for the upcoming early presidential election on April 26, 2015.
The party’s position was explained by the party’s chairman Azat Peruashev. He said that there was no political figure in Kazakhstan comparable with Nursultan Nazarbayev.
"Nazarbayev has done more than anyone else for business development and promotion of national interests of Kazakhstan. (...) Whether you like it or not, Nazarbayev does not belong only to himself, this is a global figure of historic proportions for the entire post-Soviet space," Peruashev said.
According to him, the task of any political party is to strive for power. "However, in the elections with participation of President Nursultan Nazarbayev, who earned the wholehearted support of the people and led the people from an unknown province in a totalitarian empire to an independent state, the term 'election' here is not applicable," Peruashev said.
According to the chairman of the party, attempts of some parties to compare their candidates with the figure of Nazarbayev unfairly diminishes the role and importance of the President in modern Kazakhstan.
The early presidential elections will be held on April 26, 2015. Three people from among those wishing to take part in the election were able to cope with the tasks of the Kazakh language linguistic commission so far. These are incumbent President Nursultan Nazarbayev, self-nominated candidate Limana Koishiyeva and candidate from the Communist party Turgun Syzdykov.
