Kazakhstan will render a humanitarian aid amounting to $200.000 to Nepal that was recently hit by a powerful earthquake, Tengrinews reports citing the press service of Kazakhstan’s Government.

On May 25, Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev chaired a meeting of the Commission on International Humanitarian Aid. “Taking into consideration the emergency situation in Nepal that has suffered from an earthquake, the Commission recommended the Government of Kazakhstan to provide an official humanitarian aid worth $200,000 to this country. These funds are expected to be allocated from the emergency reserve of Kazakhstan’s Government,” the press office said.

The Commission also recommended the Kazakh Government to render a humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. The aid will include vegetable oil, warm clothes, beds, tents, bedding and dishes.

A powerful 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal on April 25. The epicentre of the earthquake was 81 kilometres (50 miles) away to the northwest of Kathmandu. According to the United Nations, the earthquake claimed the lives of 6.2 thousand people. Over 14 thousand were injured. The UN appealed to the international community asking for $415 million in humanitarian aid.

“Kazakhstan expresses sincere condolences to the people and government of Nepal over to the death of thousands of people in the series of devastating earthquakes,” Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
