Kazakhstan 7 notches down in the Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index 2013

Kazakhstan is 7 notches down in the Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index 2013, ranked 140 out of 177. The Index scores 177 countries and territories on a scale from 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean). No country has a perfect score, and two-thirds of countries score below 50. The Corruption Perceptions Index is based on experts’ opinions of public sector corruption. In the Corruption Perceptions Index 2013, Denmark and New Zealand tie for first place with scores of 91. Afghanistan, North Korea and Somalia this year make up the worst performers, scoring just 8 points each. According to the report, Russia is ranked 127, preceded by Belarus (123), Moldova (102) and Armenia (94). Kazakhstan shares its 140th place with Honduras, Laos and Uganda.
