Tengrinews.kz – Starting June 1, 2025, the messaging app WhatsApp will stop working on millions of iPhone and Android devices, according to the portal 9to5Mac.

“WhatsApp is officially dropping support for several legacy smartphones starting this Sunday, June 1st. So starting this Sunday, WhatsApp will only work on iPhones running iOS 15.1 or later. Devices stuck on Android 5.0 or earlier are also being dropped,” the report states.

For Android, this decision will affect hundreds of models, while among Apple smartphones, the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus will lose support. Although these devices are long outdated, millions of people around the world still use them.

Owners of older devices are advised to update their operating system, if possible. If continuing to use the app is important and the update is not available, switching to a more recent device is recommended.
