Tengrinews.kz - A unique wedding registration that took place in Astana is gaining attention on social media. The newlyweds forgot their rings and came up with a creative solution.
Kazakhstani woman Aizhan posted a video on her TikTok, which caught the audience's eye. She shared that due to certain circumstances, they had to use bagels instead of rings during their wedding ceremony.
Social media users left dozens of comments under the video, noting that such a wedding would be memorable for a long time.
"Mom, where are your wedding rings? Daughter, we’ve already eaten them," "How cute!" "Well done, smart couple," people commented.
Aizhan and Nurislam are from Shymkent and were born just one day apart in the same maternity hospital: she on November 10, and he on November 11, 2001. They studied at the same school but were in different classes and didn't interact. Years later, they met in Astana, where Nurislam proposed. They decided to hold the "kyz uzatu (giving a girl in marriage)" ceremony in Shymkent and register their marriage in the capital.
"It happened that our dowry and belongings were sent to the capital by car, and our wedding rings accidentally went with them. We flew from Shymkent to Astana late in the evening, and the registration was already scheduled for the next day, September 10, at 10:10 a.m. The rings were still on their way and wouldn’t arrive in time. We didn't worry and found a solution: we chose bagels instead. My husband and I approach such moments positively and find it romantic. The registrar at the registry office didn’t understand the situation at first, but then everyone got it and laughed," Aizhan shared.
For the registration, the newlyweds wore red sneakers, considering it a small finishing touch to their outfits. The parents of the couple took the situation calmly.
"My mom even said, "Bread is good; it means the family will prosper." We decided to have the wedding in 2025. So far, we’ve only had the kyz uzatu and the official marriage registration. The real rings are fine, and we didn't eat the bagels—we kept them in a separate box. Although, we're not sure how long they’ll last," Aizhan added.
