Tengrinews.kz - Dias, his wife from Astana, and a family friend visited a Sequoia National Park and shared their impressions with Tengrinews.kz.

Astana resident Dias has been living in Los Angeles with his wife since May 2023. In the city, he works at a moving company and as a truck driver. Dias mentioned that their family loves active recreation and they have already traveled through the San Antonio mountains in California, as well as states like Utah, Colorado, Nevada, and Illinois. On one of their recent weekends, the travelers decided to escape the urban hustle of Los Angeles and enjoy a nature walk.

"The decision to go to the sequoia park was spontaneous, and just 20 minutes later we were headed towards the oldest trees in the world," Dias said.

The journey

Dias explained that in the fall, the sun sets early in this location, and the couple left quite late, they were concerned about having enough time:

"The only downside was that we left quite late, which shortened the time we could spend in the park. We left around two o'clock in the afternoon, and the drive from Los Angeles took about three hours. Plus, autumn days are already shorter, and the sun sets early. But fortunately, we made it in time," he shared.

Main purpose of the trip

The main goal of the trip for the couple was to see General Sherman — the largest tree on Earth. Arriving at sunset, they were struck by its grandeur. Dias shared that the sequoias looked like plants from another world, and "the sunset rays illuminating them added a special magic to these ancient giants."

"Such moments stay in your memory for a lifetime," he added.

Meeting the "locals"

Among the local inhabitants, the travelers encountered only a deer that unexpectedly appeared by the roadside. It was completely unafraid of people and the noise of cars, calmly standing in the road. Our compatriots were even able to approach it quite closely, and the deer remained unfazed, as if accustomed to humans. All the others they met in the park were also tourists.

Impressions

"What impressed us the most were, of course, the sequoias themselves—giant trees that have survived through countless epochs and witnessed the rise of great empires. The beauty of the surrounding nature also amazed us. Americans take great care to preserve their national parks, putting in a lot of effort to protect them for future generations. The trip to the Sequoia National Park left a deep mark on my soul. The majestic trees, absolute silence, and picturesque views make this a place that I want to recommend to everyone," Dias shared.

The travelers shared that they have many plans ahead: a hike in Yosemite with several mountain climbs, a trip along the Big Sur coastline, and fishing off the shores of San Diego with the chance to see whales.

"This is just the beginning of their journeys, as so many amazing places await them ahead!" Dias concluded.
