Over one million Kazakhstan tourists visited Kyrgyzstan this year, KazTAG reports. “Kyrgyzstan was visited by 2.1 million tourists. 50 percent of them are from Kazakhstan, 33 percent are from Russia, 11 percent of tourists are from Uzbekistan and 4 percent are from far-abroad countries. Only 890 thousand tourists visited Kyrgyzstan last year because of the political situation,” senior expert of Economy and Tourism Development Department of Kyrgyzstan Ministry of Economic Regulation Elbrus Kalyyev said Thursday. According to him, this year the state budget received 152.1 million soms ($3.3 million) from tourist taxes and tourism's share in GDP made 4.4 percent. Last year, only 54.4 million soms ($1.2 million) were paid into the budget and tourism share in GDP made 3.9 percent.
