Kazakhstan’s boxer and London Olympic champion Serik Sapiyev has been enrolled at Karaganda State Technical University to study Mining Engineering, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Novyi Vestnik - Karaganda.
According to the athlete, he decided to follow in his father’s footsteps. When asked whether he plans to work as a miner, Serik answered: "All may be". “Earlier I planned to work in mining. Now I am thinking what field of work to choose. I don’t know yet,” the Olympic champion said.
Sapiyev said that the rector of the University has met him half way and allowed optional attendance. “I am often away at training camps, and don’t have enough time,” the boxer said.
Arstan Gazaliyev, Karaganda State Technical University rectorб presented Serik Sapiyev with a notebook. According to the rector he chose “the best notebook in our mining city”.
