Money received from the auction where a football with famous British players’ autographs was sold will be spent on treatment of four children suffering from ICP (infantile Cerebral Paralysis). The new owner who purchased the football at the auction chose to remain incognito, Tengrinews.kz reports. The prominent football players David Beckham, Ashley Cole, Gary Neville, Matthew Upson, Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney signed the ball when the British team visited Kazakhstan to play in the qualifying round of 2010 World Football Championship. The owner of the football, a 16-year old boy, decided to donate the ball to Komanda SOS Volunteers Center. The Center set the ball out for auction on December 5, 2011. Once the auction started the organizers sent invitation letters to companies, banks and organizations calling them to take part in the auction. Four persons and three companies bid at the event. One of the bidders got the ball for $6000. He than donated the ball as a trophy to one of Almaty's futsal school. The money will be transferred for treatment of children suffering from ICP. They are 1 year and 10 months old twins Aruzhan and Ayazhan from Almaty oblast, 4-year old Aikyn from Karaganda oblast and 8-year old Vladislava from Temirtau. The Volunteers Center plans to hold such charitable auctions on a regular basis. Joao Carlos Barbosa, Kairat Futsal Club head coach promised to bring souvenirs with Brazil football players’ autographs to Almaty.
