Tengrinews.kz – American singer Jennifer Lopez has commented on the funny incident that occurred during her concert in Almaty on August 10.
As a reminder, a grasshopper jumped onto the singer right in the middle of her performance — and the moment instantly went viral online.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, J.Lo watched the now-famous clip with the host. The artist admitted that at first, she didn’t realize the insect had landed on her.
“The thing is i felt something, right? I felt something happening and I thought it was, like, a bug that was flying around. Because I could see bugs in the lights. You know? You can see them. You are outside in these venues. And i thought it was just, like, touching me and coming back, but it was crawling. If you see the whole clip, it's crawling up my body the whole time. And, then, finall it got to my neck and i was towards the end of the song and i was like, i'm not going to whatever it is, you know it's just touching and going back because it was just, little legs, ” said Lopez.
The audience burst out laughing as Lopez demonstrated how the grasshopper “crawled” up her dress. The singer said she tried to stay composed and keep performing.
“I was like, 'just try to finish the song.' Then i realized - i was like, 'it might be on me,' and i didn't know what it was but, when i went like this and threw it i saw in the light, and it looked loke a helicopter!!” J.Lo joked.

The unusual Almaty incident quickly became a meme. Social media users joked about “the luckiest grasshopper in the world,” suggested “auctioning it for $500,” and made parody videos. Many praised the singer for her professionalism.
“She was so elegant and didn’t miss a beat! I would have freaked out,” fans commented.
Jennifer added that surprises like that are just part of live shows.
“You never know what might happen. But the main thing is to finish your performance and give the audience a show,” she said.
The August 10 concert at Almaty’s Central Stadium marked Jennifer Lopez’s first-ever performance in Kazakhstan. The city was one of only two in the country included in her Up All Night world tour.
