A woman nine months pregnant has saved a boy from drowning in the icy waters of the Irtysh River, Tengrinews reports citing Remarka.kz. The incident occurred on March 28 near the city of Aksu in Pavlodar Oblast in north-eastern Kazakhstan.
In the afternoon, the 22-year-old Galina Bitlyan was walking with her child along the beach, when she saw another two boys playing nearby. At some point, she lost sight of one of the boys while noticing that the second kid was staring at the water in a stupor. Galina fearlessly stepped into the icy-cold water in spite of her condition and helped the drowning child out to safety.
Witnesses of the accident called an ambulance and a rescue service. Both the woman and the boy were taken to the hospital. None of them are in any danger, they only had routine medical checks made.
