Tengrinews.kz – A flight attendant shared a simple way to find out if your hotel room is inhabited by bedbugs.

Hannah Hudson Kimmel, a Southwest Airlines employee from Chicago, noted that due to the specifics of her job, she often has to live in hotels. According to her, "the first thing she does" when she arrives is examine the bed for little pests.

As specified by the Daily Mail, to check, she lifts all the sheets and carefully examines the corners of the mattress for bugs.

But even if you don’t see anything, they can still be there and just hiding - and, according to the flight attendant, there is one ordinary object that will help lure them out.

Hannah said that she takes a bar of soap and leaves it on the bed for a while, and then returns to check for bugs.

"Bed bugs are no joke and when they bite you it's painful, the bites are red and big and they cause swelling. So make sure you check for bed bugs," she noted.

Earlier, the hotel expert also shared tips on how to spot unwanted guests in a hotel room. The traveler explained that you need to check for bugs "before you unpack your things," and also recommended turning off the lights in the room and using your phone's flashlight when searching the mattress.

In addition, experts note that after the bedbug invasion in 2023, which hit Paris especially hard, travelers have become more careful. It is important to know that when checking into a hotel, you should never put your luggage on the bed. Instead, it is better to put it in the bathtub.
