Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry has named Southeast Asia among the more favorable destinations for tourists, while warning against travel to conflict-affected regions in the Middle East.
The question was raised to Deputy Foreign Minister Arman Issetov on the sidelines of the Senate.
According to Issetov, it is difficult to give a definitive answer on the safest destinations, as reports of incidents involving tourists continue to emerge from different countries. However, he noted that countries in Southeast Asia — including Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia — can currently be considered relatively favorable for Kazakh travelers.
“It is very difficult to answer this question now, because we are receiving information from various countries about incidents involving citizens and tourists. Therefore, I cannot give a clear answer. But I think that at the moment, Southeast Asian countries may be more favorable for our tourists,” he said.
At the same time, the vice minister stressed that the Middle East remains a conflict zone, and the ministry does not recommend visiting countries where active hostilities and instability persist.
Earlier, Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry officially advised citizens to refrain from traveling to several countries in the region until the situation stabilizes. The list published on March 10 included Bahrain, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Yemen.
Later, on March 27, the ministry announced that Egypt had been removed from the list, citing the current situation and the functioning of civilian infrastructure, including international airports and tourist areas.
