Tengrinews.kz – The popular messenger WhatsApp has decided to fully “make friends” with Apple’s aesthetics. The developers are testing a new interface called Liquid Glass with semi-transparent panels, depth effects, and “live” reflections.
What will change in the design
According to the test build, the new style makes the app visually closer to the native iPhone system. The main feature is that the interface elements will become semi-transparent. As WabeTaInfo reports, the “liquid glass” effect will be added to key elements:
- tab bar: tabs and the top chat bar will be slightly see-through, softly blurring the background image;
- chat panel: buttons and the context menu will get a depth effect;
- buttons;
- context menu.
The effect will automatically adapt to both light and dark app themes.
When to expect the update
So far, the Liquid Glass interface is being tested in the beta version (via the TestFlight program). At the moment, only some WhatsApp Business users have gained access to the new “glass” look. Meta has not announced an official date for a global rollout, but typically it takes from a few weeks to a couple of months to move from testing to public release.
