Tengrinews.kz - As the U.S. presidential elections approach, the issue of visa policy has become particularly relevant. Experts suggest that if the Democrats win, the chances of obtaining visas may increase, while a Republican administration could complicate the situation. What can Kazakhstanis expect if Trump or Harris wins? Tengrinews.kz sought insights from experts on these questions.

Political analyst Gaziz Abishev believes that concerns regarding the migration crisis may be more pronounced among Republicans.

"There is a category of Kazakhstanis who go to study at American universities through the 'Bolashak' program, where all financial issues are covered. I don’t think they will be affected. Wealthy tourists won’t be impacted either. The poorest individuals with questionable financial histories will be rejected by both Democrats and Republicans," he stated.

According to Abishev, the election results could influence visa acquisition for the middle class.

"Under the Democrats, around 60% of applicants may be approved, whereas under Trump, it might drop to 40%. I don’t think this will have a dramatically significant impact," Abishev emphasized.

Meanwhile, Kazakh political scientist and director of the public foundation "Kemel Arna," Zamir Karazhanov, believes that if Trump wins, negotiations to simplify the visa regime for Kazakhstanis may be suspended indefinitely.

"Trump's victory could negatively affect relations between the U.S. and its immediate neighbors, especially Mexico, as well as European countries and China. Kazakhstan-U.S. relations are likely to remain at their current level without significant development," noted Karazhanov.

Financial analyst Arman Beisembayev argues that the election results could greatly influence visa policy and opportunities for Kazakh citizens.

"During his presidency, Donald Trump adopted an isolationist approach, which was reflected in the tightening of migration norms. He actively pursued deportation policies, leading to serious human tragedies. If Trump returns to power, we can expect a continuation of this approach. The situation with visas is likely to worsen," Beisembayev stated.

He also emphasized that Trump may initiate a major overhaul of immigration policy, which would adversely affect the number of approved visas.

"He has already expressed intentions to make Mexico cover the costs of building a border wall, demonstrating his tough stance on migration issues," Beisembayev reminded.

The financial analyst advised Kazakhstanis to hurry with their visa applications in the event of a Trump victory.

"Those who need to move should act quickly; they still have time until January. After that, I suspect it will become much more difficult. In rough terms, while Trump is being reinstated as president and the inauguration takes place, there is time," Beisembayev concluded.

On November 5, the United States will hold presidential elections, with Donald Trump and Kamala Harris as the main candidates. This will be the 60th presidential election in U.S. history, in which the 47th president of the country will be elected.

It is worth noting that the visa application procedure was changed at the U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan in early June.

U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan Daniel Rosenblum, when answering journalists’ questions, stated that inquiries about obtaining visas to enter the U.S. are the most frequently asked questions he receives.
