Tengrinews.kz — President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received President of the Fédération Cynologique Internationale Tamas Jakkel, citing Akorda.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation with the international federation in the development of domestic dog breeding and the preservation of a sustainable breed gene pool.
“Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed gratitude to Tamas Jakkel for the preliminary recognition of the Kazakh Tazy breed. The corresponding decision was made on September 3, 2024, in Amsterdam at a meeting of the General Committee of the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI),” Akorda reported.
The President of Kazakhstan noted that for the country, the preservation of the Kazakh Tazy and Tobet breeds is of great importance not only from a cynological point of view, but also as a cultural and historical value linked to the traditional way of life. The Tazy is included among the seven treasures of the Kazakh people (“Zheti Kazyna”).
It was also noted that thanks to systematic work, about 4,000 Tazy dogs are officially registered today in the Unified Breeding Book of the Union of Cynologists of Kazakhstan. Relevant legislative acts have been adopted.
In addition, a National Center will soon be opened in the Zhetysu region, where breeding work will be carried out, as well as scientific and cynological support will be provided.
From this year, September 3 will be celebrated in Kazakhstan as the Day of the Kazakh Tazy and Tobet.
In turn, Tamas Jakkel thanked the Head of State for his personal attention to the preservation and development of national dog breeds. He also informed the President about the activities of the FCI, which unites 100 countries around the world.
It should be added that during the meeting Tokayev awarded Jakkel the Order of Dostyk, 2nd class, for his contribution to the development of the cynological sphere in Kazakhstan.
