Scorching 44°C heatwave to hit Kazakhstan

Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan is set to face extreme heat as temperatures soar to 44°C in parts of the country this week, according to a forecast from Kazhydromet.

From May 13 to 15, a mass of hot air sweeping in from Iran will trigger a sharp rise in temperatures across southern and central regions. On May 15, daytime highs are expected to reach 35-44°C in the south, 35-38°C in central areas, and up to 35°C even in the traditionally cooler Akmola Region.

But not all regions will feel the heat. Meteorologists warn that western and far northern parts of the country will come under the influence of a cyclone and associated frontal systems. These areas will see rain, thunderstorms, and in some cases, heavy downpours and hail.

Earlier, Kazhydromet released a forecast for May, detailing what weather conditions Kazakhstanis can expect in the final month of spring.
