Tengrinews.kz — The Kok-Tobe cable car in Almaty ground to a halt while passengers were still inside the cabins. Preliminary reports suggest the stoppage was caused by electrical issues.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of July 17. Passengers were trapped in the cabins when the system stopped.
The administration of the Kok-Tobe park stated that the funiculars stopped due to an emergency power outage.
According to Alatau Zharyk Company JSC, power supply to all consumers was fully restored by 2:45 PM.
"Once power was restored, all passengers were evacuated. Currently, the funiculars are not boarding passengers. Service will resume once all inspections are completed and the system is confirmed safe for operation," the city administration reported.
The passenger cable car remains closed while the circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
