Tengrinews.kz – The international pizza chain Papa John’s has clarified the situation around its restaurants in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, stressing that it is not shutting down operations in the region.
According to a representative of Papa John’s, the company has ended cooperation with its former master franchisee, but continues to operate and manage a number of restaurants.
“Papa John’s has terminated its partnership with the master franchisee operating in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. This decision reflects our commitment to high quality standards and our aspiration to deliver the best possible customer experience. We are currently exploring new opportunities to maintain our presence in the region,” the company said.
Papa John’s also specified that 13 sub-franchise restaurants continue to operate in Kazakhstan. These restaurants are located in Astana, Almaty, Aktau, Taraz, Atyrau, Kostanay, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Aktobe and Kokshetau.
Earlier, restaurateur Daniyar Monolbayev wrote on Facebook that his company was ending its activities as the master franchisee of Papa John’s in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. In his post, he explained the decision by a prolonged decline in revenue, rising expenses and accumulated liabilities. He also noted that all available funds had been directed toward paying salaries, taxes, rent and partially repaying debts.
