Tengrinews.kz – The American pizza chain Papa John’s is withdrawing from the Kazakh market.

The decision was announced by restaurateur Daniyar Monolbayev in a Facebook post.

“Our company is ending its operations as the master franchisee of Papa John’s in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. It was a difficult but unavoidable decision caused by a prolonged decline in revenue, rising costs and accumulated liabilities,” he wrote.

He added that all remaining funds were directed toward paying salaries, taxes, rent and settling part of the company’s debts.

According to publicly available information, many Papa John’s locations in Almaty have already closed. Contact phone numbers listed on the company’s website are also disconnected.

In 2023 McDonald’s exited the Kazakh market as well, citing supply chain restrictions.
