Tengrinews.kz – Laser safety systems have begun to be installed on 22 sections of toll roads in Kazakhstan, according to KazAutoZhol.
What it is
These are special installations that project bright light lines directly above the road. They serve as an additional guide for drivers, especially at night or in poor visibility conditions.
Such lines help drivers:
- maintain their driving trajectory more accurately;
- reduce speed in time;
- stay focused on long and monotonous road sections.
As explained by the company, the main purpose of the lasers is to reduce the risk of accidents related to driver fatigue and inattention.
Where they will be installed
According to the national company, these systems will appear on several national highways, including the routes Astana – Shchuchinsk, Almaty – Khorgos, Shymkent – Taraz, Uralsk – the Russian border, and others.
Why this is needed
Specialists note that at night and in poor visibility conditions drivers are more likely to lose their orientation. In such situations, laser lines act as an additional visual signal and help drivers react to the road more quickly.
According to international tests, accident rates on road sections with such systems can decrease by up to 40–50 percent.
It should be noted that this technology has already been tested in the country. In 2025, an active laser warning system was installed in test mode on the Astana – Temirtau highway near the village of Oshagandy.
