Tengrinews.kz – August 30 will no longer be a public holiday in Kazakhstan. At the same time, Kazakhstanis will not be compensated for the “lost” day off this year.
This was announced on the sidelines of the Senate by Minister of Labor and Social Protection Askabek Yertayev.
"Our new Constitution was adopted on March 15. This day will become Constitution Day. We will now celebrate it on March 15," the official said.
The new Constitution will officially come into force on July 1, 2026. Thus, starting this year, August 30 will no longer be a public holiday.
"Yes, we will have one day less (of rest — ed.)," Yertayev said.
Earlier, Vice Minister of Labor and Social Protection Viktoria Shegai also confirmed that Kazakhstanis will not have a day off on August 30 this year. The new Constitution Day in Kazakhstan is now March 15 — the day when citizens supported its draft in a referendum.
