Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan has fallen one position in the latest Henley Passport Index, which ranks countries based on the travel freedom their citizens enjoy.

Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan has fallen one position in the latest Henley Passport Index, which ranks countries based on the travel freedom their citizens enjoy.

According to the updated data from Henley & Partners, Kazakhstan now ranks 67th, granting its citizens visa-free access to 78 countries. The country shares this position with Bolivia and Suriname, whose passports provide the same level of travel freedom.

For comparison, Kazakhstan ranked 66th in both 2024 and 2023.

The index, compiled using exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), is updated monthly.

Within Central Asia, Kazakhstan continues to hold the strongest passport:

  • Kazakhstan – 67th place (78 visa-free countries)
  • Kyrgyzstan – 81st (62 countries)
  • Uzbekistan – 82nd (61 countries)
  • Tajikistan – 87th (55 countries)
  • Turkmenistan – 93rd (48 countries)

World’s most powerful passports

The world’s most powerful passport once again belongs to Singapore, whose citizens can travel visa-free to 193 destinations.
It is followed by South Korea (190 countries) and Japan (189 countries).

Other countries in the top ten include:

  • Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, Switzerland – 188 countries
  • Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, Netherlands – 187
  • Greece, Hungary, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Sweden – 186
  • Australia, Czech Republic, Malta, Poland – 185
  • Croatia, Estonia, Slovakia, Slovenia, UAE, UK – 184
  • Canada – 183
  • Latvia, Liechtenstein – 182

At the bottom of the list are Afghanistan (106th, 24 countries), Syria (26), Iraq (29), Yemen and Pakistan (31 each), followed by Somalia, Nepal, North Korea, and Bangladesh.

Henley & Partners has maintained the Henley Passport Index for over 20 years, covering 199 passports and 227 destinations worldwide.
