Tengrinews.kz – A Polish traveler heading to China through Kazakhstan faced an unexpected obstacle at the border but left with warm impressions of the country.
The tourist, Shimon, hitchhiked across Europe, Turkey, Georgia, and Russia before arriving in Kazakhstan’s Zhetisu region. When he reached the checkpoint with plans to cross into China on foot, border officers explained that walking across was not permitted and advised him to use transport, Polisia.kz reported.
“The taxi driver dropped me off at the border, and I didn’t know it was forbidden to pass on foot. It was very hot, and when the police noticed me, I thought I was in trouble. But it turned out to be the opposite. They gave me cold water and offered help. They said: ‘Let’s take you back to Zharkent, we’ll assist you,’” Shimon said in a short video.
He later returned to Zharkent to buy a ticket for his onward trip to China. The traveler thanked Kazakh police for their support, noting that such care leaves visitors with lasting positive impressions of the country.
