Tengrinews.kz – A festive fireworks display will light up the skies of Astana on July 6 to mark Capital Day, the city’s akimat announced.
The fireworks are scheduled to begin around 11:00 p.m. at the Botanical Garden, immediately following the Open Air concert featuring popular Kazakhstani performers. Officials emphasized that the show is being funded by sponsors, not public money.
A city-wide celebration
Capital Day, celebrated annually on July 6, is one of Kazakhstan’s major public holidays. This year, Astana turns 27 years old, and over 100 events are planned across the city - including concerts, shows, exhibitions, sports tournaments, and cultural performances.
According to meteorologists, the weather is expected to be favorable for the festivities: cloudy but dry, with daytime temperatures reaching +26 to +28°C.
Just a day before the celebration, on July 5, the city was hit by heavy rain, hail, and thunderstorms - and similar conditions are forecast for July 7. But for the main holiday, the skies should hold, offering a perfect backdrop for the grand fireworks show.
