Tengrinews.kz – A section of the Shnaydar Bridge in Ust-Kamenogorsk has collapsed, despite recent repair works that cost 600 million tenge. The city administration reported that all emergency services are on site and a local state of emergency has been declared.
Special units have been deployed to deal with the aftermath, and residents are urged to stay calm and avoid the area.
Mayor Almat Akychev said the incident followed three days of heavy rainfall, which caused the river level to rise. He assured that the bridge would be restored soon.

“We invited experts from Almaty to assess the situation. It is frustrating that the bridge had been under repair for two years, with 600 million tenge spent. An inspection will be carried out, and since contractors are bound by warranty obligations, they will be responsible for restoring the bridge,” Akychev stated.
According to him, the crossing played a key role in easing the city’s traffic flow, and authorities aim to rebuild it within the next two to three months.
