In the nearest future Kazakhstan will lift the ban on importing dairy products from Kyrgyzstan, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Kyrgyz PM Omurbek Babanov as saying on his visit to Kazakhstan February 22. “Earlier only 12 Kyrgyzstan-based companies enjoyed the right to supply dairy products to Kazakhstan. Both the President and the Government of Kazakhstan have agreed to get rid of the restrictions imposed on dairy products made by other Kyrgyz companies”, Mr. Babanov told a briefing. October 19, 2011 Kazakhstan introduced full ban on dairy products imports from Kyrgyzstan. In December 2011 the ban was partially lifted, with only 5 Kyrgyz companies being able to bring in their dairy products to Kazakhstan. In a separate statement the Kyrgyz PM announced that Kazakhstan would construct a modern school in the Kyrgyz city of Osh. “To render support to the south regions of Kyrgyzstan, President Nazarbayev has decided that the Kazakh side will construct a modern school in Kyrgyzstan”, Mr.Babanov said, adding that “the Kyrgyz side will allocate a land plot and all the infrastructure”.
