Kazakhstan’s electronic government has issued over 10 million certificates since its launch, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan Prime-Minister’s official website. “In just a short period Karim Massimov’s government managed to build-up the infrastructure of the ‘electronic government’, integrate databases and information sources and the state bodies' systems into a single complex database,” PM’s press-service states. E-government was launched on April 12, 2006. The first service was rendered in 2007. The platform currently renders 74 interactive services and over 2 thousand information services. The government managed to save 40.2 billion tenge ($271.6 million) thanks to implementation of the electronic tenders, systems of electronic document management and electronic licensing. The UN department of economic and social affairs published a rating of the countries’ preparedness for use of electronic government technologies (Global e-Government Survey 2010), where Kazakhstan was ranked 46th in 2010, gaining 35 lines compared to 2008 (81st).
