Kazakhstan Emergency Situations Minister Vladimir Bozhko asked for funds for victims of Zhanaozen clashes at the government meeting on Zhanaozen, Tengrinews.kz reports. “Right now the town and oblast administrations require money for priority needs: for cleaning up the town, compensation of transportation costs, purchase and use of fuel and provision of state authorities. The total amount that we have calculated for priority needs is 1.2 billion tenge ($8.5 million),” Vladimir Bozhko said. “We need to reserve money in case residents who have suffered from the clashes and have experienced loss of property or any other damage will apply for aid,” Bozhko told Massimov. In this relation Massimov instructed Finance Ministry to transfer required funds to Mangistau oblast. “The money has to be available by the end of the day. Tomorrow they have to be transferred where necessary,” Massimov said on December 20.
