Islamist group Soldiers of Khalifat commented on Zhanaozen clashes. On December 17 members of the organization uploaded a video with new threats on the Internet, SITE Intelligence Group writes.
The video was uploaded on Shumukh al-Islam forum (Al-Qaeda forum). The group members talked about “solidarity with striking workers” and promised that the events will not be left unnoticed. Soldiers of Khalifat will continue the battle for cancellation of “unfair laws” in Kazakhstan.
14 people died in Zhanaozen clashes on December 16. The state of emergency was announced in the town until January 5, 2012. The government commission was created and headed by Vice Prime-Minister Umirzak Shukeyev.
Earlier Soldiers of Khalifat claimed responsibility for terrorist attacks in Atyrau and clashes in Boraldai. According to Kazakhstan General Prosecution, this organization was created in summer 2011 by Kazakhstan citizens Rinat Khabidolla, Orynbasar Munatov and Damir Znaliyev for jihad in Kazakhstan.
