The successor of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev will not have as much power as Nazarbayev does, Advisor to the President Yermukhamet Yertysbayev said. “I think the second president of Kazakhstan will not have similarly vast powers. Nazarbayev needed the power only to build the independent Kazakhstan, to perform the most effective social-economic market modernization. We can even say that this task has been successfully achieved during these 20 years of independence,” Yertysbayev told in an interview to Liter newspaper. Advisor to the President also talked about “longevity” of Nursultan Nazarbayev at the President’s post. According to him, the reason is that “Nazarbayev is of the people, have never separated himself from the people, he is close to the people and they support him.” Yertysbayev noted that after the elections on January 15, 2002, the new Majilis will have to become a powerful legislative and representative body. And Kazakhstan will start switching from the super-presidential country to a parliamentary-presidential one. “There will be no second Nazarbayev,” he said.
