Over 100 U.S. Peace Corps volunteers have already left Kazakhstan, BBC News writes. Over 120 volunteers used to work in Kazakhstan. November 18 U.S. Peace Corps announced suspension of its activities in Kazakhstan. The official message stated that the decision was made because of “a number of operational considerations”, as well as because Kazakhstan is one of the most developed countries of the world to host Peace Corps programs. Many insiders insist that the decision is connected with security concerns. However, Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry explained that Peace Corps’ withdrawal is not related to any threats and that all the volunteers are safe.
