The administration of North Kazakhstan region decided to engage college and university students during the harvest time, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Viktor Moldovskiy, the local Nur-Otan party deputy chairman. The students’ brigades are being formed all over the region. A bumper grain harvest is expected this year. According to preliminary data the workers will harvest about 20 centners (2000 kg) from one hectare. The idea of the students’ brigades came up to Serik Bilyalov, the head of North Kazakhstan region. Primarily, the students from technical colleges and universities will be listed for such brigades; they will become assistants to farm machine operators. “Only adult students and only those who are willing to help could be employed for this period. About 300 people work at the farms now. We are responsible for their labour contracts and fair salaries”, Molodovskiy said. At the present moment 400 more students are ready to enter brigades. We suggest to the farms’ heads to employ them for the most difficult harvesting month which is September.
