Participants of the international expedition to K2 decided to put off their fourth ascent by one more day because of non-stopping storm, Kazakh alpinist Maksut Zhumayev said. “It started snowing at night. According to the weather forecasts it will continue today and tomorrow. We will take off to the first camp tomorrow – at the skirt of bad weather. We hope there won’t be too much snow on the mountain slopes. We have rested enough already and we won’t to start ascending,” Zhumayev shared the plans. This forced delay might prevent Zhumayev from implementing his personal goal to congratulate his son on his birthday from the height of 8000m. The goal of the ascent is to set a camp at the height of 8000 meters. The team’s last ascent finished on July 24. Since then there has been a bad storm with strong gashes of wind and non-stoping fallouts in the Karakorum mountain system. The international expedition to K2 includes Maksut Zhumayev and Vassiliy Pivtsov from Kazakhstan, Gerlinda Kaltenbrunner from Austria, Ralf Dujmovits from Germany, Darek Zaluski from Poland and Tommy Heinrich from Argentina. Chogori is located in the Karakorum mountain system in Kashmir province at the territory of Pakistan. Its height is 8,611 meters.
