A 27-year-old center from United States Eric Williams has signed a 1-year contract with Kazakhstan basketball team Astana, Tengrinews.kz reports referring to the club’s press-service. 206 cm 125 kg Williams played college basketball at Wake Forest (2002-2006) and then moved to Italy signing with Pallacanestro Cantu for one year. He spent most of his carrier in Italian A series in Cantu, Acellino and Caseta. On August 17 Astana club plans a training trip to Slovakia. Later it will go to Italy and will be back in Kazakhstan by September. In July Astana got another US basketball professional Rawle Marshall who had been playing in the NBA for Indiana Pacers and Dallas Mavericks. This season Astana will take part in two championships: National Basketball League of Kazakhstan and for the first time starting this year in VTB United League that includes Russia’s strongest clubs CSKA, Khimki, UNICS.
