UN to review human rights situation in Kazakhstan online

A report on human rights in Kazakhstan will be reviewed by the UN Human Rights Commission in an online session, KazTAG reports citing the Department of the High Commissioner for Rights. A dialog of 18 experts of the UN Human Rights Commission and Kazakhstan delegation onpromotion and protection of human rights in Kazakhstan will take place as part of the sessions of UN Human Rights Commission on Thursday, July 14 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Friday (July 15) from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.. The broadcast will be available through the Internet. Kazakhstan government has already submitted the first report on observance of the country’s human rights obligations. Non-government organizations have submitted their reports to the commission as well. “Being one of 167 member-states of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, one of the major international human rights treaties, Kazakhstan has to pass regular ceremony of reviewing the human rights situation by the UN Human Rights Commission,” the message says.
