Up to 20 people apply to Shymkent hospitals with scorpions bites every day

5 to 20 people per day apply to hospitals with scorpions bites in Shymkent in the south of Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports. The insects became active because of a sharp temperature build up. According to doctors, the number of bitten people is three times higher than last year. Scorpion's bite causes very strong pain syndrome, while the black widow's bite can cause death. Meanwhile, black widows have already bitted 32 people. Six of them were hospitalized to toxicology department of the city hospital. They were treated by anti-spider serum. The majority of people bitten by insects live in new buildings. Doctors recommended those whose job involves trips to the steppes to bring-in sand and hay to Shymkent to be extra careful. Besides, doctors advise against sleeping on the ground.
